Tips

Little things that work here and there are great to know.  Some things are excellent for one person while they may not make a different for someone else.  Take those that you feel comfortable trying or that you’d want to do, be ready for them having what you need (if it requires something besides your cute little person), and then just try it.  You may instantly like it, you may instantly hate it, you may feel indifferent.  Many times you have to do something to know if it will even work for you.

Here’s what I suggest:

  • don’t pass over something completely because it may sound strange; if you’re willing to try it, just try it and then you can decide in the moment when it really matters if it will work for you
  • write them down, plan for them, gathering what you need
  • having too many options available is better than none
  • let your husband know what you want to do so he can be ready to help you if needed (put him to work, I say)

Most importantly . . . . PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!

Some tips or advice you’ll take requires you to try it before you get in the heat of the moment.  If you don’t, you’ll be in the middle of labor or delivery and you WON’T be able to remember what you wanted to do if you haven’t done it prior.  Now, not everything needs practice, just preparation, keep that in mind.  I’m not suggesting you practice sucking your lollipop when you’re not in labor yet, but you see what I mean.

I want to know things that have worked for you too.  Share them, please!  More ideas are better than just a few, especially coming from such fluctuating experiences.  Please post below what things you have tried that work for you and we’ll see you on the boards.  Check the menu for different topics for tips too.  Thanks!
