Carrying a baby around in your arms all day long is brutal. I finally started using a sling because it wasn’t so bulky and awkward as a full fledged carrier, and it was lighter and more comfortable. But it was sure tricky trying to figure out how to use it!
Today, Angelica from Welcome Parenthood is going to be showing us the many different ways to use a baby sling safely. Thanks Angelica!
A baby sling is one of the most popular parenting tools, especially to the working parents who require going out every single day. There are a couple of ways to use a Baby Sling in the right direction. However, for the first-time users, using a baby sling can be a daunting job.
If you are one of those fellow parents wondering how in the world you use it, we assure, you have landed in the right place. Here is how.
Front Carry
Front carry is suitable for babies of any age. It is easy to tie the sling and babies feel comfortable too in this particular way. For this, at first, you need to place the cloth upside down. Make sure that the inside is facing out.
Then, tie it in a reek knot comfortably behind you. Now, you can hold your baby on your lap with one hand and bring up the other side of the cloth over the baby.
This makes a pocket where you can comfortably place your baby. Next, cross the two sides of the cloth and pull it. Then you can tie these two parts of the cloth around the baby’s bum, and there you go!
Hip Carry
Hip carry is one of the most comfortable styles for babies of 2-3 months. To do this tie, first put one corner of the sling on one shoulder and twist it on your other hip. Put the baby in a burp position and slightly put baby’s legs through the sling.
Now, pull the upper rail up and wrap over the baby’s bump. Tighten both the rails and you are all done! Babies enjoy this carrying style and can see the outer world clearly in this position.
Tummy to Tummy Carry
This is suitable for babies of 0-3 months. You can tie it by putting the sling in a bodice position. Now, you need to adjust the body of the sling above your tummy. Then spread the sling around the rings.
Now, ease the outer edge and leave the top edge away from your body. It will look like a pocket. Now, put your baby into this pocket. It is a very comfortable carry for both the baby and the mother as well.
Kangaroo Carry
Kangaroo carry is a great style of using the baby sling for curious babies of 3+ months. To do this hack in the right way, you need to put the outer edge of your sling against your chest and tighten it at first. Then, relax the top edge and create a pouch.
Finally, place your baby’s butt gently into the pouch with its legs crossed. Now, tighten the sling to adjust the baby to your body. Keep its arms free so that it can react using the hands. In this particular carry, your baby will be able to stare at everything around and have a great time outdoors.
Back Torso Carry
Back torso carry is a type of African carry which is very simple. In this carry, your baby lies on your back. The edges of the baby sling are tied around the torso under your both arms.
You need to twist the top rails of the sling around your chest and fold them. Now, secure the bottom rails and make a pocket-like space here so that your baby can be accommodated nicely. Now you can put your baby onto it. The back torso carry is so simple to tie, isn’t it?
Front Cross Carry
Front cross carry is also appropriate for 3+ months babies. To wrap this one, ring your sling and wrap it around your back. Then bring the two edges in front from under your arms. Make a cross in front and put the edges on back.
Tie the ends under your tummy by bringing the ends passing your hips. Slide your baby here and spread the two pockets around baby’s bottom. Tighten as needed and there you go!
Now, it’s your turn to get started with your piece of Baby Sling and rock in the outdoors along with your little one!
How do you prefer to carry your baby?
