It’s official – Prince baby #3 is on it’s way! We wanted to start trying in the next few months. But low and behold, mother nature had more urgent plans. I haven’t been on birth control for years, even between pregnancies; so we would just monitor my cycle to know when times were risky.
Well . . . . my husband’s little buddies must have hung out in there for at least three days to make it happen, desperate to be the one to score. (By the way, that’s entirely possible.)
I was due to start my period day after Christmas. But that came and went–no period. So I finally bought a pregnancy test the next week and as luck would have it, New Year’s Eve (my husband’s birthday no doubt), we find out we’re expecting again. Gosh!
Due to arrive the first of September, our next little Prince or Princess is sure fighting to be here. The first two times we got pregnant, we actively tried for two to three months before success. Not the case this time!
But we’re eager and excited. I expect baby to arrive at the end of August because I tend to deliver a little earlier than expected.
My Pregnancy Ticker
Those of you who are waiting for yours to arrive, I found this great little site that will generate a free pregnancy ticker for you so you can keep loved ones in the know about your timeline. It’s called LilyPie and it’s great fun with calculators and other little things. Here’s my ticker:
So maybe you’ll see this pop up here and there as I go through this experience with you. I’ll let you know how I’m doing as well when you share how you are too.
Third Pregnancy Symptoms
I’ll tell you now, each time I’m pregnant it seems that symptoms are easier and lighter. But that may be just me, or I’ve grown accustomed and acclimated more fully. I know that everyone’s experiences are different, sometimes pregnancy to pregnancy, sometimes not. We all have our own understandings and I think in that way it makes everything even that more intimate and personal…or envious.
My friends and family seem to always ‘hate’ me when I’m pregnant because I don’t get morning sickness. Believe it or not, approximately 15-25% of women don’t experience traditional morning sickness. So it’s not my fault really. I don’t have some magic pill or method that prevents it, it’s just life for me. (You can ease your morning sickness though, here.)
I used to be SUPER nervous about being pregnant because my mother was always terribly sick all throughout her entire pregnancies, not just in the first trimester. So I thought, “Great! That’ll be me, sicker than a dog, every day.”
But you may like to know that it seems meta research compilations in the Journal of Reproductive Toxicology show that mothers who experience morning sickness may actually have stronger babies. So danget for me! It’s something that we can’t control whatsoever. I’m glad for moms that are so strong even through their miserable days because I see them as more resilient.
Sure, I just have to crash and nap in the afternoon when I get home from work, and some days the thought of food makes me sick. Other days I can’t get enough food because I finally have an appetite and want to take advantage of it. Because the very next day I may not want to eat a single thing.
What Am I Doing?
I often just feel really weak and tired, have no motivation to do anything. But what am I making sure that I do?
- I take my prenatal vitamins every day
- I take a probiotic supplement every day
- I do my best to keep my meals balanced, eating things that I know are good for baby
- I exercise when I’m not exhausted, being sure to not push myself too hard
But now I also have a cold! I was hoping that because winter was halfway over I could squeeze by without getting super sick. My boys caught it too and have slight fevers and coughs. I’ve just emerged with the hot and dry sore throat, bit of stuffiness. But who knows if it will get worse tomorrow.
So I’m making sure to drink plenty of water to try and flush out the darn virus infesting my person, and get plenty of rest. I’ve let the house go a bit the past few days because I just don’t have the energy. Hopefully, it will come back soon and this cold won’t stick around long like last time!
I’m also starting to review all those little things I learned in my natural birthing course. Are you looking for a good course to help you through your pregnancy?
I want to hear from you ladies that are in the same place as me!! I know you’re out there. 🙂
